The Legend of Zelda is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year and to kick things off two fans have made a 3D version of the original game with Java so anyone can play it for free in their browser.

Called ‘The Legend of Zelda 30-Year Tribute,’ the creators used WebGL and voxels rendering to create a pixel-perfect replica of the original, all in Javascript.

The game is still a work in progress and there are some bugs but it is playable on Web and mobile browsers, just without some of the game’s original dungeons for now.

The creators, programmer Scott Lininger and artist Mike Magee, are still building out the tribute but since it’s unlicensed by Nintendo, there’s every chance it will get shut down before they have a chance to complete it.

So if you’re feeling nostalgic and have some time to spare, I’d suggest heading on over to The Legend of Zelda 30-Year Tribute page today before it’s too late.
